Splunk Enterprise Certified Admin: how future-proof is the demand, really?

Genuine concern here, not trying to talk myself out of certifying. I’m about to begin preparation for my Splunk Enterprise Certified Admin test, but something that’s bugging me was said by an ex-colleague of mine who worked for my company, he said that his knowledge of Splunk didn’t translate very well into Elastic as his new company was using that software, and he practically had to learn again.
That’s made me hesitant. Not about whether the certification is useful right now (it clearly is, my company runs Splunk everywhere and isn’t switching anytime soon), but about what happens 3-5 years down the line if priorities shift org-wide.
A few specific things I’m trying to figure out:
Is the base knowledge of indexing, searching, logging really transferable into other systems of this type, or is it too Splunk-specific to be useful for anything else?
Does anyone deliberately match the cert with some platform-agnostic material (Linux administrator certification, scripting/Python, general SIEM knowledge) to mitigate that risk?
For people in federal contracting or highly regulated industries, does the vendor lock-in concern even matter as much, since those environments seem less likely to switch platforms anyway?
Actually looked into this more before posting, and it shifted my thinking a bit.
