The number beside the odds looked great on a tennis market I checked, but there was hardly any money available at that price. I only realized the difference after trying to place the amount I wanted. Since then, I’ve started paying more attention to liquidity instead of looking only at the displayed odds. Does a busier exchange market normally mean better prices, or does liquidity mainly affect how easily bets get matched?

Liquidity stopped feeling like a technical term after I tried a tennis market with barely any money available at the price I wanted. Part of my bet stayed unmatched, although the odds looked attractive. For the next match, I checked prices on betting exchange online and noticed how much smoother a busier market felt. There were more offers on both sides, and I could enter near the displayed price. Since then, I look at available amounts as carefully as the headline odds. Strong liquidity usually means tighter pricing and less trouble getting matched. A good number on the screen means little to me if there is not enough activity behind it when I actually want to place the bet.
