On a small construction site I visited, they had solar cameras at the edges and wired ones near storage containers. It made me wonder, how do people decide when to mix systems instead of sticking to just one type for full coverage and reliability?

From what I’ve seen on industrial areas, most sites don’t stick to a single setup anymore. It usually depends on terrain, access to power, and how often the layout changes during the project. Hybrid systems seem to be getting more common in temporary or expanding sites.

I ran into a similar setup while helping out at a commercial yard that had weak power access in some zones. They initially tried fully wired cameras, but extending cables everywhere just wasn’t practical, so they added solar units in the outer perimeter while keeping wired systems around the main buildings. Later I checked a solar security cameras solution through a service we used, and it helped us fine-tune placement so nothing relied too heavily on one source. What stood out was how hybrid setups handled weather changes and power interruptions without losing coverage. Wired cameras stayed stable where infrastructure was solid, while solar units gave flexibility for areas that kept changing. It ended up being a balanced approach rather than choosing one system over another.
