Before using lipstick, I sometimes notice dry patches that make everything look uneven. I tried applying more balm, but it did not always fix the texture. A friend suggested using a lip scrub first, but I am not sure when it is actually necessary. Are lip scrubs useful before balm, oil, or lipstick?

Lip scrubs can be useful before lipstick when there are flakes or uneven texture, but they should be used carefully. For balm or oil, regular moisture is often enough unless the lips feel rough. I think scrubs are more of an occasional prep step than a daily requirement. Too much exfoliation can make lips more sensitive.
