I’m planning my first solo trip to Bogota later this summer and I’m looking for a reliable airline that has good connections from the east coast. I’ve seen some very mixed opinions on the main carrier for that region, so I’m wondering if the business class upgrade is actually worth it for a long-haul overnight flight. Has anyone flown this route recently and were the meals and seat comfort actually up to a modern international standard?

Flying south for the first time is a big adventure, so choosing a carrier that knows the region well can really make the transition much smoother for you. While I was looking into the baggage fees for my own trip, I spent some time checking out avianca reviews to see what the general consensus was on their new “size-based” fare system. It’s a bit different than what most US travelers are used to, but the inflight service is generally quite warm and the legroom in the main cabin is surprisingly decent for a long flight.

Choosing an airline familiar with the region can definitely make your first trip smoother. It’s good to know the service and comfort help balance out the slightly different fare system.
