ParticipantHello. I have workshop and want to build a small lifting mechanism for equipment. It needs to be able to smoothly lift and lower objects weighing approximately 40-50 kg. It’s important that the movement be as smooth as possible, not jerky. I’ve looked at various options, but hydraulics seem too complicated and expensive. I’d like to build the system myself so I can understand how it works.

ParticipantI would recommend first deciding what kind of stroke you need. For example, if you need to lift an object 30–40 cm, choose a drive with sufficient stroke. Also, consider speed. Sometimes it seems faster is better, but in practice, smoother, slower movement is often more convenient and safer. Also, don’t forget to consider the control system. There are simple toggle switches, as well as more complex units with the ability to synchronize control of multiple drives.
