INSTRUCTIONS & TIPS
1. Prepare Your Space
- To see your work clearly choose a well lit area to start working your painting.
- Cover the surface where you paint with plastic tablecloth or newspaper.
- Make sure to have a container of water and some paper towel close by to clean and dry your brushes in between colors.
2. Iron Out the Canvas
If your canvas is too wrinkled, you can easily iron it just like clothing since it’s made from high-quality linen. However, please, make sure to keep the heat of your iron on the mid-range heat setting.
Place the canvas face down on a thick towel and spray it lightly with water. Do not soak the fabric, it should be just a little damp. Gently iron the canvas and keep the iron moving.
If you don’t feel comfortable ironing it, you can lay the canvas face down on the flat surface, spray it with water and start stretching it out by hand. Or roll the wrinkles out by using a clean rolling pin. When the canvas dries out, it should be wrinkles-free.
3. Match Colors and Numbers
Try and paint only the areas with the same color first. Then let it dry and move on to another color. It’s better to start with the biggest areas and move to the smallest. It will be more efficient than mixing the colors.
4. Fix Mistakes
If you made a mistake and painted an area with the wrong color, please wait for the paint to dry completely, then cover the wrong area with the correct color on the surface. Also, you may need to add extra layers of color to cover the numbers.
Alternatively, you can use white color to cover the wrong color or clean out the edges of the painting.
5. Prevent Paints from Drying Quickly
Acrylic paints dry quickly. You can add a drop or two of water to prevent it from drying out. Always keep the pot lids closed after you use them to keep the paints moist.
6. Use Varnish
After you finish the painting, wait for at least a week to make sure it’s dry. Then you can apply the varnish to protect the painting from dust and give it a glossy and more finished look.
7. Frame Your Artwork
If you decide to frame your masterpiece, please, make sure that it is completely dry before you do it. Set the painting aside for at least 24 hours to dry.
