Has anyone ever decided to install a skylight in their home? I’ve been thinking about such an upgrade for the attic – I want more natural light and air. But I wonder how convenient they really are in everyday life? Do they leak over time, and how are things with heat in the winter? I’d be glad to hear any stories or advice!

We installed a skylight in the attic a couple of years ago — at first, it was perfect: bright, open, especially in the winter. But summer hit hard. The heat turned the room into an oven — it was almost impossible to breathe. What saved us was installing fans like the ones my brother recommended. It really drops the temperature — really felt like 20–30°F cooler at the peak of the day. Took just a day to set up, hooked it to a regular garden hose, and the water usage is surprisingly low. Now even on the hottest days, you can read or nap right under the roof without feeling like you’re melting.
