Hi everyone. My dad is turning 65 in a few months, and his mailbox is flooded with flyers about supplement plans. I’m helping him sort through the paperwork. Should we sit down with a local independent agent in our town, or use one of those large national phone-based brokerages that advertise on TV to compare rates? I just want to make sure he gets the right coverage for his arthritis treatments without getting overwhelmed.

When I turned 65, I chose a local agent from my Rotary club. He sat at my kitchen table and explained the differences between Plan F and Plan G. It was helpful because he knew which local hospital networks accepted the specific supplement carriers I was considering for my surgery.
