Hey guys, I’m heading to Peru next month and thinking about renting a car to explore more freely. Never done it there before, so I’m kinda nervous about the whole process. What should I watch out for and where’s the best place to start looking for good options?

A lot of people get stressed about driving in Peru but it’s actually manageable if you prepare a bit. Roads vary a lot, especially outside the main cities, and traffic in Lima can be wild. Most guys recommend having an international driving permit just in case. You can rent car in Peru right here https://getrentacar.com/en-US/peru . Check the insurance details carefully and always take photos of the car before driving off. Fuel prices and tolls add up too, so keep that in mind when planning your route.

One thing that helped me was downloading offline maps in advance. Internet can be spotty in some areas. And try to avoid driving at night if possible, especially in the mountains. Better safe than sorry.
