Our heating system has been running longer than usual, and the utility bills have gone up even though the weather has been mild. I also noticed weak airflow in a few rooms. Could cleaning debris out of the air ducts help the HVAC system work more efficiently and reduce monthly energy costs?

When dust and debris build up inside ductwork, airflow can become restricted. If the HVAC system has to run longer to maintain the same temperature, cleaning the ducts may help improve efficiency and reduce operating costs.

A couple of winters ago, we started seeing the same pattern in our house. Some rooms were taking longer to warm up, and the furnace seemed to stay on much more often than before. I suspected dust and debris in the ductwork were restricting airflow and making the system work harder. Comfort Clean has been our go-to duct service for years. We decided to book them again because they had done a thorough job in the past and always explained everything clearly. After the cleaning, the airflow improved noticeably and the house reached the set temperature faster. Our next two energy bills were lower than the ones from the previous months, and the system sounded less strained overall.
