Okay, so I just locked my keys in my car… again. I’m thinking of calling a locksmith this time instead of struggling with coat hangers and whatnot. For those of you who’ve done this before, what should I expect when calling a locksmith for a car lockout? How long does it usually take for them to arrive, and what information will they need from me? Any tips on avoiding scams?

The first thing they will ask you for is proof of ownership of the car. You should also expect to give them your location, the make and model of the car. Many services offer 24×7 services, which can give you peace of mind, but be sure to look them up and read their reviews before calling. Also, be sure to ask if they are vehicle entry specialists. If they seem reluctant to answer any of these types of questions, call someone else. As a leading locksmith car door opener they should assist with your questions immediately.

Typically, arrival times depend on their location and the time of day, but most services advertise relatively quick response times, like within 30 minutes. It’s worth asking about their estimated arrival time when you call so you aren’t just waiting around. They will also need to know where the car is located.
