Hey folks, wondering what people’s real-life takes are on steel versus fiberglass entry doors when it comes to holding up around Mississauga. We’ve got those brutal winters with all the salt and snow, plus humid summers that seem to make everything swell or rust eventually. Last year after a big windstorm, my old steel door got a couple dents from flying debris, and now I’m thinking about replacing it before it gets worse. Anyone here dealt with either type long-term in this area – do fiberglass ones really handle the freeze-thaw cycles better without warping, or is steel still tougher overall?

Lately I’ve noticed way more homes in the neighborhood switching to those smoother, modern-looking entry doors that mimic wood grain pretty convincingly. It’s funny how you spot these trends when driving around – seems like everyone’s prioritizing stuff that stands up to the lake-effect moisture without constant touch-ups.

Picked fiberglass for our front entry a few years back after dealing with some foggy windows in the old setup. It’s been solid through the crazy weather swings here – no cracking or fading, and it keeps the drafts out way better than the previous one. We ended up getting the install done along with some windows and doors Mississauga through these local folks, who specialize in that stuff, and honestly, the energy savings showed up quick on the bills. Steel’s great if you’re worried about security or bangs, but I like how fiberglass doesn’t dent as easy in everyday knocks and feels more premium without the extra upkeep.
